West Brunswick saved its best for last in the 2024 football season, finishing with wins over New Hanover and South Brunswick.

The Trojans will look to continue that momentum as they are scheduled to start the 2025 season on August 22 at home against South Brunswick, which will not be in West’s conference in the new NCHSAA realignment.

West will be the only 6-A program in the new Carolina Coast Conference. The CCC membership includes Ashley (7-A), New Hanover (7-A), North Brunswick (7-A), Topsail (7-A), Hoggard (8-A) and Laney (8-A).

Josiah Borton completed 73 of 161 passes as a sophomore for 972 yards and seven touchdowns. He ran for 238 yards and four scores.

The Trojans must adjust to the absence of Javonta Daniels, who carried for 1,106 yards and 11 TDs as a senior.

Defensive end Jabari Cumbee averaged a team high 8.1 tackles as a junior in 2024. Another rising senior, Antonio Sanchez, helped contain opposing offenses with 6.0 stops per game.
