— Official football practice starts today for NCHSAA schools. West Brunswick is scheduled for a morning session.

— Trea Turner (N.C. State) had two hits with a double and a run for visiting Philadelphia in a 6-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.

— Cedric Mullins (Campbell) had two doubles, two RBIs and scored a run for host Baltimore in a 16-4 win over Toronto in the first game of s doubleheader sweep.

— The N.C. State men’s basketball team will play in the Maui Invitational in Hawaii on November 24-26. Besides the Wolfpack, the field will include Arizona State, Boise State, Seton Hall, Southern California, Texas, Washington State and Chaminade.


— State football coach Dave Doeren had a hole in one on a par three course in Missouri on Sunday.

— East Carolina has announced it will play football at Northwestern on September 18, 2027.
