West Brunswick rolls past South Brunswick, 64-42

West Brunswick improved to 2-1 with a 64-42 nonconference varsity boys basketball win over visiting South Brunswick on Tuesday night.

The Trojans got out to a 22-12 lead in the first quarter and remained in control, building the advantage to 34-17 at the half.

Matthew McKenney led the Trojans with 18 points on seven of 10 field goal shooting.

Isaac Clarida had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Scotland County transfer Jerrison Dixon added 13 points.

K’Veon Griffin totaled six points, eight rebounds and 13 assists.

West made 25 of 45 field goal attempts for 56 percent. The Trojans made six of 16 from beyond the arc, 43 percent, and dropped eight of 10 free throws for 80 percent.

The West girls slipped to 1-2 with a 66-59 loss as Meryn Deutsch scored 26 points for South Brunswick.
