Mike Absher, athletic director and varsity boys basketball coach at Southeastern Christan Academy, has announced the teams that will compete in the second annual Southeastern Shoreline Shootout.
The Spartans will welcome Lee Christian Academy of Sanford, Triad Baptist Christian Academy of Kernersville and Mintz Christian Academy of Roseboro for the event on December 12-13.
Lee Christian is the defending boys champion by virtue of a 70-59 win over Triad in last year’s final. Triad took the inaugural girls title, 51-33, over Southeastern.
Southeastern’s varsity boys were 13-12 for the 2024-25 season. The Lady Spartans were 16-8 last year.
Mintz is a new provisional member of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association, in which Lee and Southeastern also compete on the 1-A level.
Ziyon Smith averaged 16.2 points while making 55 percent of his field goal attempts as a sophomore post player for the Spartans. He pulled down 11.0 rebounds per game.
Pont guard Uzziah Marloe averaged 13.3 points and 4.3 assists during his junior season.
Grady Price averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds through eight games before he sustained a knee injury that required surgery. Coach Absher said Price has been participating in summer workouts.
