West Brunswick plays its final nonconference football game of the regular season tonight as the Trojans (2-1) host South Columbus (2-1) at 7 p.m.
Trojans coach Shane Handy had some encouraging news regarding personnel.
“Josiah (Borton) will return and start at quarterback,” Handy said. “Eden Romero will go back to wide receiver.”
Borton missed last week’s 24-12 loss at North Myrtle Beach and Romero filled in at quarterback.
And there were more additions.
“We’ve got a starting offensive lineman back. Christian Mendoza,” Handy said. “That’s big.”
Handy also said receiver/defensive back Nikolas Brown would be able to play.
“Those three are pretty big, big people,” Handy said.
The Stallions will be making their second trip of the season to West, having participated in the Bash at the Beach on August 15.
“They’re Wing-T,” Handy said. ” … They run the football and throw some bootleg, throw a few passes. Defensively, they are a 3-4 and that mixes into a 4-man front sometimes, but primarily a 3-4.”
Handy looks for the Trojans to play better up front.
“We want to win the line of scrimmage,” he said. “We didn’t do a very good job with that last week. Got to win at the line of scrimmage and then, defensively, we’ve just got to make tackles. We missed too many tackles last week.”
