Matthew McKenney hit a 3-pointer from the left corner on Kveon Griffin’s assist for the deciding points with 22 seconds left as 10th-seeded West Brunswick took a 53-52 win at No. 2 Greenville Rose on Saturday in the third round of the NCHSAA 6-A basketball playoffs.
The Trojans (19-10) will play at third-seeded E.E. Smith (19-5) on Monday at 6 p.m. in the fourth round.
McKenney had 26 points on nine of 14 field goal shooting, including seven of 12 from behind the arc. He made his only free throw.
Kveon Griffin had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists as the Trojans recovered from a 22-14 deficit at the end of the first quarter.
Johnathan Daniels scored 12 points.
Isaac Clarida had seven rebounds. Jacob Woodard had six rebounds and four assists. Aysan Gause had five rebounds and three steals.
