Shallotte delivered a dominant performance in a 16-1 win in four innings over Dunn in the Diamond Youth Baseball Division 2 state tournament at Ocean Isle Park on Tuesday.
Three players had three hits each for Shallotte, which advanced to meet unbeaten Bessemer City on Field 2 on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Preston Lowe and Jax Trent each went 3-for-3. Lowe had a double, a triple and six runs batted in. Trent had a double and three RBIs. Stevie Johnson had three hits.

Cody Thomas pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings. Holden Garrett yielded one run over the last inning and one-third.

Shallotte has nine players who have moved up from the AA (8-and-under) state champions in 2024.

“Our pitching is lined up,” said Shallotte coach Sam Hickman of the pending matchup. “It will take our best effort.”
