Shallotte overcame an initial 1-0 deficit with two runs in the bottom of the first and the Shallywags went on to defeat Sandhills, 8-3, in an Old North State League baseball game at Mike Alderson Field at West Brunswick on Tuesday night.
Ryan Yaroshuk grounded out in the bottom of the first to score Trey Pierce with the tying run. Jude Morton doubled to bring in Tate Morris with the go-ahead run.
Big hits helped Shallotte (11-7) expand the lead, including an RBI triple by Yaroshuk in the third and a home run by Pierce in the seventh.
Pierce and Morton had two hits each in dropping the Bogeys to 10-8.
Zach Steagall struck out nine over the last four innings.
Shallotte coach James Rice missed the game due to the passing of a family member in the Pittsburgh area
The Shallywags are scheduled to host Laurinburg (5-13) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
