Shallotte swept a doubleheader at Hope Mills on Saturday in Old North State League baseball.

The Shallywags (16-13) take a 4-game winning streak into a home game with Oak Island (16-12, Coastal Division) on Sunday at 7 p.m. to close the regular season.

The Wags took two games at Hope Mills on Saturday, 7-5, in the regularly scheduled contest and 13-2 in the second matchup, which was a make-up date from a postponement.

Shallotte defeated Laurinburg, 8-5, at home on Friday night.

An 11-6 home triumph over Jacksonville on Wednesday started the streak.

“Starting to play good baseball at the right time,” said Wags coach James Rice.

Shallotte has added some power to its attack.

Branton Jernigan homered Friday. Jacob Koenig had a go-ahead RBI double in the top of the seventh and final inning in the first game Saturday.

Ryan Davis had a 3-run homer and Ryan Yaroshuk had a grand slam in an 8-run third inning in the second game Saturday. Shallotte closed out the win in five innings and saved some pitching.
