Shallywags topped, 10-7, after early home runs by Sandhills

Back-to-back home runs by J.D. Scarbrough and Charlie Muniz in the first inning set the tone for a 10-7 win for Sandhills at Shallotte in Old North State League baseball on Monday night.

Scarbrough (Pitt Community College) hit a 3-run homer in the second for a 5-0 lead.

Shallotte (9-6) closed the scoring with a 3-run homer to right by Branton Jernigan in the ninth.

Five players had two hits each for the Shallywags including Tate Morris, Jernigan, Ryan Yaroshuk, Jacob Koenig and Cody Crafton.

Nolan Hull went 3-for-5 for the Bogeys (9-5).

Shallotte is scheduled to host Oak Island on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
