The West Brunswick varsity boys basketball team avenged its only loss of the season, 54-47, against visiting North Myrtle Beach on Monday night to improve to 6-1.
The Chiefs (3-4) had topped the Trojans, 53-46, in overtime in West’s second game of the season in South Carolina on Nov. 21.
Matthew McKenney scored 17 points for the Trojans in the rematch. Kveon Griffin and Jerrison Dixon added 12 points each. Isaac Clarida had nine points and Aysan Gause tallied four.
West led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter but trailed, 21-20, at the half. The Trojans had a 14-11 scoring advantage in the third quarter and outpaced the visitors, 20-15, over the last eight minutes.
Clarida and Dixon each had seven rebounds. Griffin and McKenney each grabbed six.
Griffin had 12 assists.
NMB claimed a 62-23 win in the girls game to put the Lady Trojans at 3-4 going into games Wednesday night at South Brunswick.
